We went
to Japan and Taiwan for our X'mas vacation of seven days. The main reason we
went is because of the Akina Nakamori's dinner show that was held in the New
Otani Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. Long way to go for a concert, but what the hey, it's
a good reason as any to visit Japan for the first time.
We
flown on Singapore Airlines because of short notice. The show was on December 26th and
we finally decided to attend on December 8th or so; not too much time to
check around for different flights. We booked the flight and hotel in Japan
with a travel agent. And, believe it or not, the price wasn't too bad considering
it was on such short notice.
All
the pictures here were taken with the Sony DSC-F1 digital camera.
The DSC-F1 is great for taking quick pictures. And because of its small size,
you can carry it with you everywhere. With 4MB of flash memory, it
can hold up to 103 pictures at 640x480x16.7M resolution. You can easily download the pictures to a PC
via the serial port or infra red port.
I purchased the camera directly from Sony's VAIO Direct website.
The
flight time from LAX to Tokyo, Japan is about 10 hours or so; believe me, spenting that much time sitting
in an airplane seat isn't fun. But fortunately, Singapore Airline has a small
display unit in front of every seat. You can watch movies (I've seen Men in
Black three times), listen to music, and even play some Super Nintendo (no
N64 yet) games to pass the time.
So after passing through a couple of time zones and the date line, we finally arrived
in Japan's Narita airport. After getting the blood circulation back into
our legs and butts, we took a shuttle bus from the airport to our hotel in Tokyo. For
some reason, Narita airport is about a 90 minute drive away from Tokyo.
